You Are More

Step back, look at yourself in the mirror, and dig deep. Stare into your eyes, which will lead you to your soul. What do you see? How do you feel? Do you see you for you, or do you see yourself from the perspective of others? If I'm, to be honest, I believe we tend to view ourselves from the viewpoint of others. It's a combination of things as to why we do this but, I won't speak on those. I'll just speak from my experiences. When I stared at myself in the mirror, I realized that this wasn't going to be easy. I immediately started to cry because I knew what I thought of myself wasn't right or healthy. It was scary viewing myself the way I did just because of other people's opinions. What made it worse was that I didn't value myself very much. I'm way better now though (Thank God!), and I know I went through this to help someone.

At the time, I was prevented from seeing my worth and blocked myself from growing into the person I knew I could be. The day we place value on people's opinions is the day we will lose ourselves. That's what happened to me. A red flag went up when I realized that their thoughts (other people) became mine. That's when I knew it was time to dig deep and soul search for my worth. Your worth comes from your light that shines from within. However, you won't see it if you keep giving people your power. I promise once you take back your power people will start to see your light shine. They'll no longer feel the need to inflict their negativity on you. I'm here to tell you that YOU ARE MORE.

You are more than what people say you are.
You are more than the clothes you wear.
You are more than the style of your hair.
You are more than your past.
You are more than your pain.
You are more than what people use to compare and put a value to.
You are more than what the eye can see.

If you've ever felt like you don't belong, or that you're always doing something wrong. Trust me when I say that you do belong, and there's NOTHING wrong with you. God made you perfectly, and with a unique purpose for your life.
