You Can Do Anything You Put Your Mind To
“You can do anything you put your mind to.” That statement might be a cliché, but it’s so real. As I’m lying here in my bed scrolling on Instagram at 1:30 in the morning. I came across an advertisement for an artist about an art show. I clicked on the artist’s page and saw that the gallery hosting the artist was tagged in the photo. I’m a painter, so I’m always in search of galleries to visit. So I check out the gallery’s Instagram page. As I looked through their feed, I thought to myself “my paintings would be perfect here.” Then all of a sudden it’s as if a lightbulb went off. I immediately felt, throughout my entire body, that I can do anything. If I want my artwork in a gallery or that gallery, then I can do it. I can make it happen. I’ve always been the one to believe that I could do anything. Well, to at least start something new, but to feel so confident that I actually can, was and is amazing. It’s as if I can see into my future.
Nowadays everyone can be described as a “jack of all trades.” Meaning that we never have to limit ourselves to just “one” thing. Limiting yourself to that “one” thing can leave you feeling empty like you're missing something. You’ll find yourself craving to work on the other things you're passionate about; Many times we stick to that “one” passion because we feel that we can’t balance everything all together. Or simply having to deal with life is enough in itself and adding your dreams to that is too much to handle. The only thing that can stop you from achieving what you want is you. It’s your fear of you not being good enough and you underestimating your strength. That notion is not real, and we have to stop believing that it is. If you continue to believe that it will become your reality because it stems from your mindset. The mind and body are two separate entities that we have to learn how to align as one. But, a simpler way to look at it would be, like Nike says, “just do it.”
We make things so complicated when we over process our situation. The thing is there will always be a situation. You may be dealing with a situation now that you feel doesn’t permit you to pursue your dreams, and now you want to wait - put a hold on things. Just because that's the case now doesn’t mean that later down the road will be a “better time” to start. The time to start is now.
It’s interesting how we become so mesmerized by other peoples success, and think “I wish I could be that successful.” You can be. The difference between you and a “successful” person is that they just went after what they wanted. They took action living in their purpose. There’s no secret formula or some secret group that you have to join to be successful. You have to believe in yourself, your talent and put in the work. When you want to achieve a goal or pursue a dream, there are no days off. It's a 24/7 job, unlike any other job you’ve ever had (besides being a parent of course). Nevertheless, It's about taking action on your dreams and manifesting them. No more self-doubt and wishing you could do or be something more. You are already someone, and "you can do anything you put your mind to."
